Climate protection commitment packaging

Smart packaging designs for greater environmental protection. For us, smart means avoiding what is unnecessary. We follow the principle of continuous improvement by making films thinner and packaging materials increasingly recyclable. We also use transport cartons made from recycled fibres and recycled PET for biscuit carriers and films. All these approaches are designed to reduce overall CO2 emissions.

Our commitment to Lucerne's forests

We promote climate protection by offsetting the CO₂ emissions from packaging used for HUG products that cannot yet be reduced through payments to the Lucerne Forest climate protection project.

In the canton of Lucerne, forest management is being optimised over an area of 26,866 hectares for 30 years. By establishing a forest reserve, the forest can be used specifically as a CO₂ sink.

By supporting this local climate protection project, sustainable measures are being implemented to adapt the Lucerne Forest to climate change, care for young forests, promote tree species diversity and finance regional jobs and training places.
