Cancer League
Our biscuit tins make people with and without cancer happy
With every purchase of the “Special Edition Hans Erni” biscuit tin, a donation of 10 Swiss francs goes to the Swiss Cancer League.
In Switzerland, more than 42,000 women and men are diagnosed with cancer every year. “We want to give the people affected and their families joy and courage during this difficult time,” says Werner Hug, Chair of the Board of Directors of HUG AG, explaining the motivation for our commitment.
Four unique Wernli biscuit tins including six exquisite biscuit specialities have already been created in cooperation with artist Hans Erni and the Swiss Cancer League. Thanks to this campaign, from 2009 until today, 717,000 Swiss francs have flowed into the Swiss Cancer League relief funds.
Werner Hug continues: “Cancer can affect anyone. Anyone falling ill should not have to worry about financial matters. That’s why the Cancer League relief fund is an essential service that we want to support.”
Hans Erni – a committed philanthropist
Hans Erni (21 February 1909 – 21 March 2015) was a Swiss painter, graphic artist and sculptor. His mural “Switzerland, the holiday country of the people”, painted in 1939 for the Swiss National Exhibition, made him famous throughout Switzerland. “Artists must take to the public what has concerned them throughout their lives”. Hans Erni’s personal conviction did not only apply to his artistic work, but also to his commitment to peace, justice, and humanity.
