The FSC system

FSC® cares for forests and the people and animals that inhabit them. The FSC system can help to ensure that timber, paper and other forest products, such as cork and latex, are sourced from well-managed forests or verified recycled sources.

FSC-certified forests are managed according to the relevant national FSC standard, which is based on the global principles and criteria for responsible forestry. Ecological, social and economic aspects are equally weighted in the development of the FSC forest standards. Independent certification bodies audit forestry and wood processing operations according to these standards.
