Swiss beet sugar
Most of our beet sugar is Swiss sugar
Our sugar travels short distances: we source 100 per cent of our pure sugar raw material from Switzerland. Some semi-finished products also contain sugar, a small proportion of which may come from EU countries.
Every Swiss sugar beet consists of up to twenty percent natural sugar. But there is much more in the sweet roots: sustainable sugar production produces valuable raw materials such as cattle feed, biogas and natural fertilisers. Nothing is left over. Even the soil that remains attached to the beet is processed into Ricoter nutrient-rich plant soil.

Swiss sugar has a thirty percent lower environmental impact than sugar from the European Union. This is the result of a comparative environmental footprint study conducted by Schweizer Zucker AG in 2020.
Why is that? Because field yields are higher in Switzerland, fertilisation is more environmentally friendly and therefore emissions in the field are lower. It also helps that the sugar factories fully utilise the beet and also achieve higher energy efficiency. In addition, production is based on environmentally friendly energy sources.
